SonoCare is a leading diagnostic imaging company serving patient's in the Henderson, Las Vegas, and surrounding communities. We specialize in diagnostic ultrasound examinations of various organs and systems in your body as well as fetal ultrasound of your developing baby. SonoCare only employs sonographers that are registered by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). Our goal is to obtain the best images so your caregiver will receive a thorough and accurate report from the board certified radiologists we employ to professionally interpret our exams. See below for instances when exams are not sent to a radiologist.
The office we work out of is located at:
1934 East Sahara Ave
Las Vegas, 89104
The office is on the corner of Sahara Ave and Monterey Ave, 3 blocks North of Eastern Ave. The sign on the building says "WHASN East". Parking and the entrance to the building are on Monterey Ave.
Our goal is to get a complete evaluation of your baby and have enough time at the end of the exam to show him or her to you and print some pictures for you to take home.
If you're 10 minutes late we will only have enough time to perform the exam and collect your payment. If you're 15 or more minutes late, sorry, but we will have to reschedule you as there's just not enough time to perform the exam.
We work out of a doctor's office and must adhere to their rules. The main rule we must follow is, no children or animals are not allowed in the building.
We take our job very seriously and have put the following rules in place in an effort to eliminate any unnecessary distractions which would keep us from getting a complete and through evaluation of you and/or your baby.
1. No eating, drinking, or use of cell phones is allowed in the ultrasound room, including their use for photo’s, video recording, game playing, or making phone calls. In most cases, your sonographer will print a few pictures for you.
2. One adult person is allowed to accompany you to the appointment, but that person must remain in the lobby until the diagnostic portion of the exam is complete. At that time, the sonographer will bring the one adult person who accompanied you, to the ultrasound room so you can both see the baby together. No one but the sonographer will see the baby until the exam is complete. The only thing that will be displayed on the big screen in the ultrasound room while we're doing the exam is a waterfall or other calming scenery. It has been our experience that operating this way, where the one additional person waits in the lobby until the diagnostic portion of the exam is complete, allows the sonographer to focus better and complete the exam quicker, allowing more time at the end of the exam to show you, and the one additional adult, the baby and print some pictures for you. Thanks for understanding.
Please note that the fee for professional interpretation is included in the price listed. Some exams like, 'Limited or Follow-up and Biophysical Profile" are not sent to a radiologist for interpretation. When either of these two exams are performed, only a "sonographers worksheet" is faxed to the caregiver.
An "Abdominal" ultrasound includes the liver, gallbladder, biliary system, pancreas, kidneys, spleen, aorta and inferior vena cava.
This exam primarily focuses on the gallbladder and biliary system. The right kidney and pancreas will also be imaged when possible and not obscured by overlying bowel gas.
This is a focused exam of the kidneys but will include a portion of the right lobe of the liver , spleen, and urinary bladder.
We will do our best to visualize the aorta from the diaphragm to it's dividing point called the bifurcation which is near the belly button.
The spleen is the only organ we will focus on in this exam.
This is an evaluation of one of the lower extremities to rule out DVT (deep vein thrombosis).
Same as the description of the "Unilateral" Venous Doppler Study, only on both lower extremities.
Here's a list of all the GYN exams we can perform.
This is an evaluation of the uterus and ovaries from the transabdominal approach. A full bladder is needed to best visualize these organs.
To prepare for this exam you'll need to arrive with a full bladder. Here's the generic prep. that we ask all patients to follow: Drink plenty of water the day before your exam. No need to hold it at this point. We're just trying to get you hydrated. On the day of the exam: 2 hours before your appointment, empty your bladder. Now, start drinking 32 o
This exam is performed using a special probe that's inserted into the vagina to evaluate the pelvic organs, uterus and ovaries. There's
This exam utilizes both a transabdominal and transvaginal approach and is consider the most comprehensive pelvic ultrasound.
Here's a list of all the OB exams we can perform.
When your baby is <14 weeks we can do either a transabdominal or transvaginal evaluation to determine how far along you are, how many babies you're carrying, and measure the heartbeat, in most cases. If the baby is very tiny and there's a question of how many there are or if there is or isn't a heartbeat, we may need to do a transvaginal ultrasound instead or in addition to a transabdominal ultrasound. An attempt to visualize your ovaries is also performed.
As you can imagine, there's twice as much work to do when you're carrying twins so this will take a bit more time and it's a bit more complex as there are additional concerns and documentation needed. We'll be doing everything listed under "1st Trimester", but in addition, we will try to determine if there is a membrane separating the babies and if there is one or two placentas.
This is the generally accepted time (20 - 23 weeks) when your caregiver will order this exam to evaluate your baby's: Spine, head and brain, chest and heart, abdominal organs, face and extremities. Measurements of the head, abdomen, and a femur are also performed. The measurements tell your caregiver what the ultrasound age and due date is. Also included in this exam is an evaluation of the amniotic fluid around the baby, your cervix, and where the placenta located.
This exam is the same as the "2nd Trimester" listed above only on two babies. With twins, we'll need twice the time to perform this exam so please be on-time to give us the best chance of getting a complete evaluation of both babies and a bit of extra time at the end for a quick look at them as well as pictures.
A growth scan is done in the 3rd trimester to measures the same structures that were measured during the anatomy scan. These measurements are compared to the prior scan or know/established due date to determine if the baby is growing appropriately.
Same as "Growth Scan" listed above, except on two babies.
Sometimes a mom doesn't get an ultrasound until this time so this might be the 1st scan performed. During this scan we will attempt to gather all the information that would normally have been gathered in the 1st and 2nd trimester scans. Due to crowding and the other limitations of performing an exam on a baby in the 3rd trimester, this exam is usually limited.
Please see "3rd Trimester" above to understand what we'll be trying to accomplish on each of your babies.
This targeted exam is ordered when a follow-up evaluation of a previously seen abnormality or suspected abnormality is needed. Another reason for this exam is to evaluate a part of the baby's anatomy that wasn't clearly seen during a prior exam.
A biophysical profile is usually ordered when the mother is late in the pregnancy, notices a decrease in the movements of the baby, the caregiver thinks the mom's uterus isn't the right size for the gestational age she's at, or needs to know what the amniotic fluid is measuring. The BPP evaluates the amniotic fluid, fetal tone, body movements, position, and fetal breathing. As a courtesy, we also measure the fetal heart rate for the caregiver.
Same evaluation as the "Biophysical Profile" listed above only on two babies.
